The story of Purple Frog Graphics begins with something entirely unrelated to graphics, promotional products —or even purple frogs; it begins, in fact, with propane! Purple Frog Graphics was founded by two guys named Mike and John, who’d had decades of successful business and marketing experience in the propane energy industry. They firmly believed in marketing their brand in the most creative and professional way possible, but they always ran into trouble finding a high-quality vendor to produce decals, signage and other graphic products to help them with their promotional needs.

Despite a repeated emphasis on quality, their vendors’ services were consistently sub-par: graphics companies were slow to react, worked with inferior quality materials and met endless challenges in attempting to capture the brand image Mike and John were so passionate about. After years of frustration, in 2016, a vision started to form around the idea of taking matters into their own hands and producing their own marketing materials. That year, in a small space in Charlotte, NC, they began production with only a wide-format printer and a cutter. After a year, their marketing vision began to come to life with eye-catching, vibrant color designs on high-quality materials for vehicle graphics, tank decals and asset labels that stood out above all their competitors. Many of their industry colleagues stood up and took notice, inquiring about who produced their marketing materials.

But there’s still one more question you may be asking: “Where did the Purple Frog name come from?” In a suburb just outside Charlotte, there was a body of water on the outskirts of Mike’s property. As he contemplated his vision for the graphics company of the future, Mike often sat on its banks, hoping to draw inspiration for the final component: the perfect name! But much to his consternation, a chorus of frogs that populated the pond were so loud and raucous, he’d become purple with aggravation as time and again he lost his focus on finding the best possible name to build a brand around. Then suddenly it dawned on him: this very source of frustration was also the perfect moniker for an organization committed to proclaiming loudly that they can deliver the highest-quality print and promotional products and the most exceptional customer service to businesses all over the country. And thus Purple Frog Graphics was born.
